Chasing 185, Pakistan suffered a heavy blow in the Powerplay against a lethal spell of fast bowling.
Top Order Decimated: Fast bowler Dushmantha Chameera was devastating, removing opener Sahibzada Farhan and, crucially, trapping Babar Azam LBW for a duck in the same over. Eshan Malinga added to the misery by cleaning up Saim Ayub (27), leaving Pakistan reeling at 43 for 4 in the sixth over.
Agha’s Fight: Captain Salman Ali Agha displayed immense resolve, scoring a career-best unbeaten 63 off 44 balls. He rebuilt the innings with Usman Khan (33) and later with Mohammad Nawaz (27 off 16), who hit quick sixes to turn the chase into a final-over thriller.
Final Over Execution: With Pakistan needing only 10 runs off the final over, Chameera returned and delivered a sensational display of composure and skill. Conceding just three runs and taking the wicket of Faheem Ashraf, Chameera sealed the six-run victory with superb yorkers, finishing with brilliant figures of 4 wickets for just 20 runs.
