The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) has unveiled a new Cricket Advisory Panel under its freshly elected management team, featuring cricket legends Anil Kumble and Javagal Srinath at the helm. The committee also includes experienced figures such as Sunil Joshi, Vijay Bharadwaj, and Jayshree Doraiswamy, signaling a strong focus on cricket development in the state.
This move comes as one of the first key initiatives by the Venkatesh Prasad-led administration, which took charge following the KSCA elections held earlier this month.
In its first session, the advisory panel suggested overhauls in Karnataka’s selection committees, which were promptly approved by the managing body. Amit Verma has been appointed as head of selectors for both the Senior and Under-23 men’s teams, working alongside S. Prakash, Tejpal Kothari, and Sunil Raju. The junior men’s selection panel, responsible for Under-19, Under-16, and Under-14 teams, will include G. K. Anil Kumar, C. Raghavendra, G. N. Umesh, and D. S. Ananth.
The CAC also recommended updates to the coaching staff for the Under-23 squad, with Ganesh Satish and Deepak Chougule stepping in to replace Somashekar Siruguppi and S. R. Deepu. The Women’s Selection Committee is still under review, with final decisions expected soon. In addition, Vinay Mruthyunjaya, the former KSCA treasurer, has been appointed as the official spokesperson and chairman of public and member relations.
In the elections, Venkatesh Prasad emerged victorious as KSCA president, securing 749 votes over KN Shanth Kumar, who received 558. The Prasad-led team performed strongly across other positions, with Sujith Somasundar as vice-president, Santosh Menon returning as secretary, and BN Madhukar winning the treasurer’s seat. Former umpire BK Ravi was the sole candidate from the opposition to claim a post, serving as joint secretary.
These changes reflect KSCA’s commitment to revamping cricket governance, enhancing talent identification, and strengthening team performance across all levels in Karnataka.
