Temba Bavuma Back in South Africa Test Squad for India Series
South African captain Temba Bavuma is back in the national Test squad for the two-test match series against India, which begins next month. Bavuma has made a successful comeback from a left calf strain suffered during an England ODI match last month.
Bavuma’s Return Strengthens South Africa’s Line-up
After a loss in the Pakistan Test series, which South Africa won 1-1, the inclusion of Bavuma is a massive morale booster. The Pakistan series also saw South Africa’s potent spin quartet in Keshav Maharaj, Simon Harmer, and Senuran Muthusamy, three of whom have been retained for the India series.
However, Prenelan Subrayen and David Bedingham did not make it to the 15-man team.
Well-Balanced Batting Core for India Series
With Bavuma returning, South Africa’s batting core looks well-balanced and includes:
Aiden Markram
Tony de Zorzi
Dewald Brevis
Zubayr Hamza
Ryan Rickelton
Kyle Verreynne will keep wickets for the series.
Rabada-Lead Bowling Department
The pace attack will be spearheaded by Kagiso Rabada, who will be supported by Corbin Bosch, Wiaan Mulder, and Marco Jansen. The South African spin trio of Maharaj, Harmer, and Muthusamy will be the backbone on Indian pitches.
